Frequently Asked Questions
This course has been certified by the Florida Department of Financial Services to provide the designation of Certified Claims Adjuster, which allows those carrying the designation to secure their all-lines adjuster’s license without sitting for the state-administered exam. In accordance with the requirements set forth by the state, this course is designed to be equivalent to a 40-hour course of classroom instruction or self-study. However, we recognize that everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds. Those who have prior experience in the insurance industry or who simply absorb material more quickly may be able to complete this course in less than 40 hours. For some, it may require more. Therefore, we have designed the course to be self-paced.
That said, due to the enormous amount of responsibility that rests upon the shoulders of insurance adjusters, and the impact of their actions on the public, it is our expectation that all prospective licensees, regardless of experience, will approach this course of study seriously, with the utmost integrity, and with an appropriate dedication of time and effort that provides both AE21 and the Department with a sense of comfort that the adjusters who have earned the CCA designation will have the requisite knowledge, understanding, and commitment to engage in timely, fair and appropriate claims practices.
That said, due to the enormous amount of responsibility that rests upon the shoulders of insurance adjusters, and the impact of their actions on the public, it is our expectation that all prospective licensees, regardless of experience, will approach this course of study seriously, with the utmost integrity, and with an appropriate dedication of time and effort that provides both AE21 and the Department with a sense of comfort that the adjusters who have earned the CCA designation will have the requisite knowledge, understanding, and commitment to engage in timely, fair and appropriate claims practices.
You will have 1 year from enrollment to complete the course.
If more time is needed to complete the course beyond the provided 1-year access period, extensions may be available with an administrative charge of $25 per 30 days. To be eligible for an extension, such a request must be received within 60 days of the course’s expiration date.
**If a year or more has passed since the last course activity at the time of the extension request, the course must restarted from the beginning.
To request an extension, you can submit a support ticket or call our office at 800-820-4550.

All adjusters of every kind and type must be licensed.
No. There is only one type of license: an All Lines Adjuster License. This is known as a "6-20" license for Florida resident adjusters or a "7-20" for non-resident adjusters. *Note: For Public Adjusters, there is a Public Adjuster License (3-20 license). However, one seeking licensure as a Public Adjuster must FIRST be licensed as an 620 or 720 All Lines Adjuster for 6 months prior to testing to become a Public Adjuster.
Yes, unless you secure your adjuster’s license by “Designation”. The Certified Claims Adjuster Designation, which you will receive upon successful completion of this course, is one of these "Designations". For more information on designations, click here: Designations
Quite possibly. If you have a valid company or independent adjuster license with Florida, you qualify for an equal or lesser license without examination. Nonresident adjusters may be exempt from the examination, please review the adjuster reciprocal list.

*Note: If you want to switch from a resident company or independent adjuster license to a Public Adjuster license, you will be required to take the public adjuster examination per Florida Statue 626.221.
Reciprocity refers to a mutual agreement between states whereby an adjuster holding a license in one state can successfully apply for a license in another state and vice-versa. This is important to adjusters because it means that in many cases you can apply for a license in another state without having to first pass that state's exam or pre-licensing course, a benefit that can mean significant savings in time and money.

Licenses will expire if more than 48 months elapse without an appointment. Failure to complete continuing education may result in cancellation of such appointment(s).
